About the Congress
The first World Forestry Congress was held in Rome in 1926 and subsequent Congresses have taken place about every six years since then. In 1954, FAO was entrusted with supporting the Congress in close cooperation with the host country and proudly continues to do so today. The XV World Forestry Congress in Seoul will bring together the global forestry community to review and analyse key challenges facing the sector and ways to address these. Participation is usually diverse, with representation from all regions and sectors; including the public and private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), scientific or professional bodies, and forestry societies, as well as those who simply care about forests and the environment.
