60th Commission for Social Development (CSocD60), 7-16 February 2022

60th Commission for Social Development (CSocD60), 7-16 February 2022

With less than 10 years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is vital to end poverty and hunger, and achieve food security for the most vulnerable.

The Commission for Social Development will convene its sixtieth session from 7 to 16 February 2022 under the priority theme of “Inclusive and resilient recovery from COVID-19 for sustainable livelihoods, well-being and dignity for all:  eradicating poverty and hunger in all its forms and dimensions to achieve the 2030 Agenda”. The theme was decided by ECOSOC in its resolution E/RES/2021/8 on the methods of work of the Commission.

The Commission will host a Ministerial Forum to engage participants in a discussion on strengthening multilateralism to deliver well-being and dignity for all by addressing food insecurity and poverty. Senior officials of the UN system will interact with the Commission, and stakeholders from Government, academia, civil society and the private sector will also share their perspectives, innovations and solutions. The social dimension of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development is also in its work programme.

Through its deliberations and policy outcome, the Commission will make its contribution to the work of ECOSOC and the HLPF. It will provide guidance, from the social perspective and emphasizing policy integration and coherence, to national Governments in their efforts to recover from the devastation of COVID-19 pandemic with resilience to get back on track to fully implement the 2030 Agenda for all in the Decade of Action. The objective of the Commission is to bring about change that will make a positive difference in people’s lives by the implementation of nationally-owned inclusive and sustainable development strategies that promoted the wellbeing and dignity of all.

This year, the CSocD60 will host five High-level Panel Discussions, a Civil Society Forum and more than 50 side events related to the priority theme. For more information, please visit: https://bit.ly/un-csocd60
