NGO Committee on the Status of Women/NY [monthly meeting]

Comprehensive Sexuality Education in the Digital Age: Experiences from the Ground

Join NGO CSW/NY’s September Monthly Meeting for a virtual expert roundtable, co-organized by Fos Feminista, about the right to comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) featuring successful interventions of CSE delivery using digital technologies in collaboration with different stakeholders, including governments in context of continued efforts at expanding and improving CSE access and outcomes.

We’ll also get updates about the NGO CSW67 Forum and the CSW67, and hear from our Advocacy & Research Group. Come prepared to provide input on the CSW67 priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

This meeting will have interpretation in English, French, and Spanish.

Inclusive Adaptation: A Benefit Multiplier for Climate Action and Women, Peace and Security

Join us for the launch of Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security’s (GIWPS) latest climate report, “Inclusive Adaptation: A Benefit Multiplier for Climate Action and Women, Peace and Security,” in collaboration with the Better Way Foundation.

GIWPS experts will highlight key findings from the report and demonstrate how meaningful inclusion of women in local-level climate adaptation efforts can strengthen climate responses, gender equality, and security. Panelists will include grassroots women climate leaders to discuss how inclusive approaches to local-level climate adaptation in the energy and agricultural sectors can drive progress for all. As is the feminist tradition of the Women’s Major Group, we’re calling on feminists and allies to wear and bring attention to certain colors on each day of HLPF because #FeministsWantSystemChange! Each of these colors represent feminist demands regarding systemic change in order to really achieve the SDGs! Join us in making feminist analyses heard!

How do I participate on social media / virtually?

  • Snap a selfie or take pictures with your organization or feminist friends wearing the color of the day or holding up a sign with the demand/color of the day, post the picture on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook!
  • Download & post the daily color campaign graphics on Instagram, Twitter & Facebook with the key messages shared for the day. Encourage others to join too!
  • Use the Zoom backgrounds in your virtual meetings and when speaking in a related virtual event!
  • Check out the WMG HLPF 2022 Comms Kit!

How do I participate in person?

  • Wear some clothes or accessories in these colors on each corresponding day while you’re at HLPF!
  • Wear one our color scarves, which will be distributed daily in our WMG morning caucuses

The Impact of Storytelling on Isolation in Older Adults

IFA Global Cafe: In Conversation with Dr. Victor Kuperman and Ms. Nancy Siciliana

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of connecting, communicating, and storytelling within the dialogue of isolation. The “Niagara Stories” project – run through a partnership between McMaster University, the Seniors’ Computer Lab Project, and Cyber Seniors’ Connected Communities Niagara – has allowed the opportunity for open conversations amongst Niagara residents. The project highlights the impact storytelling has on the sentiments of isolation, as well as how people communicate experiences through interaction and language.

To share their comprehensive insights, the Niagara Stories project organizers – Professor Victor Kuperman and Ms. Nancy Siciliana – will be leading a discussion on “The Impact of Storytelling on Isolation in Older Adults” in the IFA Global Cafe series.
