ASEAN Forum on the WPS Agenda: Implementation in South East Asia, with Religious Sector and Faith-Based Organizations
The Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy, in partnership with the South East Asian Women Peace Builders and the UniHarmony Partners Manila is organizing a forum on the UN Women initiative promoting the development of a Regional Plan of action implementing the UNSCR 1325 Women Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in South East Asia.
Genuine peace building and promotion of the rights of women and children must necessarily be undertaken at the community level to ensure sustained public support and engagement. Faith-based organizations have always been the most effective actors in any initiative undertaken to promote peace building and human rights promotion at the community level. Acknowledging the importance of engaging the various faith-based networks to strengthen public support and commitment towards the WPS Agenda and the role of the religious sector in the Agenda’s promotion and implementation in the community, we would like to invite you and/or your representatives to a discussion on the impact of WPS implementation in the region, as well as its relevance to your sector.
The discussion will be conducted on a hybrid platform, set on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 9:00 AM to 12:00PM Philippine Standard Time. Program will be sent later. For online participants, the Zoom link details are as follows–
