Civil Society Mapping and Engagement Initiative for the Decade

Participate in this mapping initiative to amplify the voices of civil society towards meaningful and sustainable action for the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing.

What is the Civil Society Mapping and Engagement Initiative?

About the initiative

The UN Decade of Healthy Ageing is an opportunity to work together to improve the lives of older people, their families, and the communities in which they live. Civil society organisations (CSOs) represent a defining force to help influence and shape policy that impacts the lives of current and future generations of older people.

The Civil Society Mapping and Engagement Initiative is a unique opportunity to identify and bring together organisations across a wide range of sectors and disciplines who have an interest and a responsibility to create an environment that enables older people to do what they have reason to value.

Through this initiative, we aim to illustrate the diversity of civil society including and beyond organisations working in the area of ageing to foster engagement and help drive the agenda of the Decade at all levels of government.

This initiative also aims to gauge interest in a colloquium early in 2022 to share areas of interest and priorities towards the development of a Decade of Healthy Ageing CSO Alliance.

What are the benefits of this initiative?

Civil society organisations are unique and powerful stakeholders working with and on behalf of their constituents and are much more influential when working together than when acting alone.

Creating a world where all people can live long, healthy lives is only possible when we share the valuable resources, knowledge and close community connections that make us who we are and what we stand for.

Working towards a common agenda even when our organisations come to issues from different perspectives enriches the policy dialogue and maximizes potential for success.

By participating in this mapping initiative, we are also amplifying the voices of civil society, beyond individual thematic fields of work, towards meaningful and sustainable action as it relates to the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing.
