Why does debt matter for climate justice? (Global Week of Action for Climate Finance and a Fossil-Free Future)

18 September 2024 @ 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM UTC-5

On behalf of the Debt and Climate Working Group, we are excited to forward you the invitation to tomorrow’s webinar titled “Why does debt matter for climate justice?” to explore the vital connections between debt and climate justice during the Global Week of Action for Climate Finance and a Fossil-Free Future. As the debt crisis escalates and rich countries continue to refuse to pay their climate debt, it is more important than ever to engage in this discussion.

We’ll cover why this issue is so urgent right now, what’s happening at the intersection of the debt and climate crises this year, and how we can collectively work toward debt and climate justice — especially as the post-2025 climate finance negotiations are finalised this year.

? When? TOMORROW,18 September 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM UTC. Convert to your timezone here.
?Speakers: Lidy Nacpil (APMDD), Iolanda Fresnillo (Eurodad), Vanessa Nakate (Ugandan Climate Activist), Carola Mejia (LATINDADD)

We hope you can join us for this important discussion.

In solidarity,

Carola, on behalf of the Debt and Climate Working Group
