Annual General Meeting–NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief (New York)
3 June 2020 @ 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that the NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) in New York will host its Annual General Meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, June 3, from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm (EDT). The meeting will begin with a panel discussion featuring Commissioners and staff of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) and will conclude with our biannual bureau elections.
USCIRF Panelists:
– Commissioner Tony Perkins, USCIRF Chair
– Commissioner Gayle Manchin, USCIRF Vice Chair
– Elizabeth Cassidy, Director of Research and Policy for USCIRF
The panelists will discuss USCIRF’s recently released 2020 report with a focus on positive developments and ways in which recent progress can provide roadmaps for countries that have been designated as Countries of Particular Concern (CPCs).
The panel will begin with opening remarks from Commissioners Tony Perkins and Gayle Manchin, followed by a moderated discussion and Q+A session.
Annual General Meeting:
Following the USCIRF panel, the bureau will provide a brief overview of recent developments in the international FoRB space, including updates on the recently formed IRF Alliance and the 2020 Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom. We will also discuss ideas for upcoming events. We will conclude by holding our biannual bureau elections. Attached please find the proposed slate for the election. Please note that, while most of our bureau members are eligible for a second term, we expect to have a vacancy for a Member at Large position. Please send any nominees for the Member at Large position to info@unforb.org by Friday, May 29, with subject line “Bureau Nomination.”
Please RSVP for the Annual General Meeting at info@unforb.org by Monday, June 1, 2020. A Zoom link will be sent out to those who have RSVP’d approximately an hour prior to the start of the event.
