Meeting of the President of the General Assembly with NGOs

Dear Representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) accredited at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG),

The President of the seventy-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) will be in Geneva to participate at the High-level commemorative event on the occasion of the 50th session of the Human Rights Council. During his visit, the PGA has requested a meeting with civil society organizations to exchange on his term under his vision for his “Presidency of Hope”, and the priorities or his Five rays of Hope : https://www.un.org/pga/76/vision-statement/#recovering.

UNOG and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) would like to invite NGOs to participate in the in-person event, which will take place on 15 June 2022, from 15:00 to 16:00, in Room XVII of the Palais des Nations. Interpretation in English and French will be provided.

During the event, time will be allocated for statements from NGOs. Participants wishing to deliver a brief statement not exceeding 2 minutes should indicate their intention to do so and should, for organizational and accessibility purposes, send their statements electronically in Word format to ohchr-mechanismsngo@un.org  by 13 June 2022 at the latest, indicating ”Statement – UNPGA meeting with CSOs” in the subject.

The Secretariat will try to accommodate all requests for oral interventions. However, it cannot guarantee that all stakeholders who wish to take the floor will be able to do so due to time constraints and depending on the number of requests received. The Secretariat reserves the right to organize the list of speakers at its discretion.

Le Président de la soixante-seizième session de l’Assemblée Générale des Nations Unies sera à Genève pour participer à l’événement de haut niveau pour marquer la 50ème session du Conseil des droits de l’Homme. Au cours de sa visite, le Président a demandé une rencontre avec les organisations de la société civile afin d’échanger sur son mandat mené sous sa vision de la “Présidence de l’espoir”, et les priorités ou ses Cinq rayons d’espoir : https://www.un.org/pga/76/vision-statement/#recovering .

L’ONUG et le Haut-Commissariat des Nations Unies aux droits de l’homme (HCDH) souhaitent inviter les ONG à participer, en personne, à cet événement, qui aura lieu le 15 juin 2022, de 15h00 à 16h00, dans la salle XVII du Palais des Nations. L’interprétation en anglais et français sera assurée.

Au cours de l’événement, un temps sera alloué aux interventions de la part des ONG. Les participants souhaitant faire une brève déclaration ne dépassant pas 2 minutes doivent indiquer leur intention de le faire et sont invités, pour des raisons d’organisation et d’accessibilité, envoyer leur déclaration par voie électronique au format Word à ohchr-mechanismsngo@un.org  au plus tard le 13 juin 2022, en indiquant “Déclaration – Réunion du PGA avec les ONG” dans l’objet.

Le Secrétariat s’efforcera de répondre à toutes les demandes d’interventions orales. Toutefois, il ne peut garantir que toutes les parties prenantes qui souhaitent prendre la parole pourront le faire en raison des contraintes de temps et en fonction du nombre de demandes reçues. Le Secrétariat se réserve le droit d’organiser la liste des intervenants à sa discrétion.
