Description: Panel presentation of current research on violence against older women (VAOW) from an international perspective. Virtual networks of feminist researchers on violence against older women emerged in response to technological innovation and change that enable rapid sharing of data and findings among VAOW scholars. This has advanced the field in different directions and stimulated emergent interventions that stress human rights and gender empowerment over more ageist strategies of protection and confinement. Research to be presented includes prevalence, qualitative, and quantitative studies. Findings demonstrate both the scope of gender-based violence against older women and their resilience in all societies.
