The 2025 Coordination Segment

6 February - 7 February

The 2025 Coordination Segment, chaired by H.E. Mr. Anatolio Ndong Mba (Equatorial Guinea), Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council, will take place on 6 – 7 February 2025 in the ECOSOC Chamber at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The Coordination Segment serves as a key platform for the Council to deliver on its Charter mandate of coordinating the work of its subsidiary bodies, specialized agencies and other UN system entities in the economic, social, environmental areas. It will focus on the main theme of the 2025 session of the ECOSOC and the 2025 High-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF), “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind.”

The Segment will follow-up on the implementation of the 2024 Ministerial Declaration of the Council and seek to contribute to the in-depth reviews of SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), SDG 14 (life below water), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the Goals) at the 2025 HLPF.  The Segment will further aim to leverage the contributions of the Council’s subsidiary bodies and UN system entities to the preparations of major upcoming intergovernmental processes in 2025.

The Coordination Segment will bring together Member States, ECOSOC functional commissions and expert bodies, United Nations regional commissions and UN system entities to provide guidance to the ECOSOC system for coordinated action to address pressing global issues and advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Representatives of Non-governmental organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC in possession of annual grounds passes are welcome to attend.  Seating for those representatives will be on the third floor of the ECOSOC Chamber on a first come first served basis. Representatives of Non-governmental organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC may request the floor during the interactive discussions, time permitting. The Segment will be broadcast live on UN Web TV.
