SUMMARY:Ending Persecution: Charting the Path to Global Religious Freedom
DESCRIPTION:Ending Persecution: Charting the Path to Global Religious Freedom \nSpeakers: Knox Thames and Simran Jeet Singh \nLocation: James Chapel\, Union Theological Seminary; 90 Claremont Ave \nNew York\, NY 10027\nTime: Tuesday\, March 12\, 3-5 p.m. \nFor more Information and to RSVP\, click here \nConcept Note:  \nReligious persecution continues to plague communities across the globe. Uyghur and Rohingya Muslims face genocide in China and Burma. Yezidis in Iraq have endured targeted attacks and displacement. In the Middle East\, Christians face violence and systematic oppression. In South Asia\, Hindus in Bangladesh\, as well as Muslims and Christians in India\, experience ongoing threats and discrimination. No faith community is immune—freedom of religion or belief is under siege in many parts of the world. \nTo better understand these challenges and explore effective responses\, the Center for Community Engagement and Social Justice at Union Theological Seminary is hosting a critical discussion with Knox Thames\, a former diplomat and a prominent leader on international religious freedom advocacy\, will share key insights from his latest book\, Ending Persecution: Charting the Path to Global Religious Freedom (Notre Dame Press\, 2024). After his presentation\, the event will feature a panel discussion with experts in the field\, followed by an interactive audience conversation. \nJoin us for this timely and urgent conversation on advancing religious freedom and protecting vulnerable communities worldwide. \nThis event is co-sponsored by Union Theological Seminary and the NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief. \nWe hope to see you there! \nScott Stearman \nPresident \nNGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief \nngoforbny@gmail.com
