This inaugural meeting will focus on: \nEliminating Extreme Poverty and Hunger Amongst Older Persons and People with Disabilities by Implementing a Supplementary Income Program: Evidence from a Program in Lalibela\, Ethiopia \nTo attend this exciting virtual event\, please contact COIGENS Program Coordinator Kevin Brabazon at NGOcommittee.COIGENS@gmail.com to receive the Zoom access link\, which will be sent out prior to the meeting. \nAbout Nov. 11 Meeting: \nThis first meeting will focus on the traumas of extreme poverty and hunger and will offer a simple approach to eliminating both traumas. The social protection program that is often found in social security systems (in the USA it is referred to as Supplementary Security Income or SSI). This meeting will introduce you to a demonstration project in Lalibela\, Ethiopia that is sponsored by COIGENS. The Mayor of Lalibela will introduce five recipients of the supplementary income part of the Lalibela Project and will interview them to show how their lives have changed since joining the program. This will be a live feed so attendees will be able to ask questions in the last 30 minutes of the program. \nIn the Lalibela Project\, Supplementary Income is provided to eligible participants on a monthly basis. DESCRIPTION:Join the NGO Committee on Financing for Development for an important look at FfD in a contemporary context\, knowing that the repercussions of COVID-19 and climate destruction are here to stay\, at least for the foreseeable future. \nDate and Time: 8:30 am – 10:00 am EST on November 9\, 2022 \n Please register in advance: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwuduutpjguGtENOtCZCf-EtA7AD0azr_Wu  \nObjective: The General Assembly will decide during the current session whether it is ready to convoke the fourth Financing for Development (FfD) conference in the next few years. The global economy is in a difficult situation\, especially for development\, underlining the need for more effective international economic and financial cooperation. While it is not obvious that the international community as a whole is currently ready to effectively address the pending issues\, it is time to start to try to build a new global consensus on financing for sustainable development. \nThe objective of the NGO Committee on FfD in organizing this workshop is to build the capacity of NGOs/CSOs that focus on a range of economic\, social\, and environmental issues to engage effectively in the FfD processes and to share updates on the current FfD discussions. While the session is geared towards NGOs/CSOs already engaged with UN processes\, it is open to anyone interested in gaining an understanding of FfD. DESCRIPTION:Eleventh session of the UNTOC Conference of the Parties\, 17-21 October 2022 \nSide event on Thursday October 20\, 2022 1-1:45pm CET \nCivil society contribution to combating transnational organized crime – In memoriam Ilona Graenitz \n  \nBiographies \nLiberato Bautista is President of the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO). He has been serving for the past 25 years as the main representative to the United Nations worldwide for the public policy and social justice agency General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church. Bautista studied political science\, history\, and international studies at the University of the Philippines in Manila which in 2000 awarded him the “Most Outstanding Alumnus in the Social Sciences.” His doctoral studies at Drew University in Madison\, New Jersey focused on religion and social and political ethics. He was awarded the Doctor of Divinity\, honoris causa\, by Union Theological Seminary in the Philippines in 2016. Bautista teaches\, writes and lectures extensively in a variety of fields. \nHelga Konrad is Executive Director Anti-Trafficking at the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe\, in Vienna and Head/ Coordinator of the ‘Regional Implementation Initiative on Preventing and Combating Human Trafficking\, working on the issue for more than 20 years at national and international levels in various functions – as expert\, manager\, parliamentarian and executive politician. In her Capacity as first Special Representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe she has established the ‘Alliance against Trafficking in Person’. She was chair of the EU Stability Pact Task Force on Human Trafficking for Southeastern Europe. In her capacity as Austrian Federal Government Minister for Women she hosted the 1st EU Conference on Trafficking in Women for Sexual Exploitation in 1995. She was head of the Austrian government delegations to the UN World Conference on Women in Beijing/China and the 1st World Congress on Combating Commercial Sexual Exploitation of children in Stockholm/Sweden\, 1996. \nJojo Mehta co-founded Stop Ecocide in 2017\, alongside barrister and legal pioneer the late Polly Higgins\, to support the establishment of ecocide as a crime at the International Criminal Court.  As key spokesperson and Executive Director of Stop Ecocide International\, Jojo has overseen the remarkable growth of the movement (teams in 15 countries\, websites in 9 languages) while coordinating between legal developments\, diplomatic traction and public narrative.She is Chair of the charitable Stop Ecocide Foundation and convenor of the Independent Expert Panel for the Legal Definition of Ecocide chaired by Philippe Sands QC and Dior Fall Sow. Jojo is a graduate of Oxford and London universities and has a background in communications\, entrepreneurship and on-the-ground environmental campaigning. \nFrancesca Rispoli is a member of the national board of Libera NGO and research fellow at the University of Pisa\, where she held the Ph.D. in Political Science and the II level Master in Analysis\, Prevention and Contrast of Organized Crime and Corruption.
