Over 78 million are out of school; 120 million who are attending school are not achieving required proficiency; and overall 222 million children and young people are in need of educational support. Failing health systems have resulted in 25 million children missing out on one or more doses of critical vaccines. It is the largest drop in a generation\, according to UNICEF and WHO. On top of this gap\, children are facing severe acute malnutrition\, which weakens their immunity; this together with missed vaccines\, threatens their very lives. About GPHR and SPGPHR \nTo promote the spirit of the May 18 Democratization Movement\, in which the people of Gwangju resisted against brutal military forces for the sake of democracy and human rights in 1980\, the May 18 Memorial Foundation recognizes the exemplary efforts of individuals and organizations aspiring to the restoration of justice and human rights in their respective countries through the Gwangju Prize for Human Rights Prize. Since 2000\, the Foundation has been bestowing the ‘Gwangju Prize for Human Rights’ to individuals\, groups\, and institutions in Korea and abroad that have contributed to promoting and advancing human rights\, democracy\, and peace in their work. \nSPGPHR is for an individual or an organization that has contributed to the promotion of democracy and human rights through cultural activities\, journalism\, and academic fields. \nThese prizes are awarded by the citizens of Gwangju in the spirit of solidarity and gratitude to those who have helped them in their struggle for democratization and their search for truth. It is hoped that through this award\, the spirit and message of May 18 will be immortalized in the hearts and minds of humankind. \n2. Qualified Nominators \nA nomination for the GPHR can be submitted by any individual or organization who meets the nomination criteria. Any nomination is considered valid if it is submitted by a person or an organization that falls within one of the following categories: \na. Individuals or organizations who won the May 18 Citizens Award and/or YunSang-won Award \nb. Laureates of Gwangju Prize for Human Rights \nc. Organizations in Korea or overseas working for human rights\, peace\, and the reunification of Korea that have been active for three years or more and that the May 18 Memorial Foundation Directorate decides to request their nomination \nd. Any individual or organization in Korea or overseas that agrees on the purpose of the GPHR \n3. Candidacy Criteria \nThe candidates eligible for the GPHR are those persons or organizations nominated by a qualified individual or a qualified organization. A nomination of oneself will not be taken into consideration. \n4. Here’s the event summary: \nThe practice of criminalizing the religious beliefs of others through apostasy and blasphemy legislation violates the fundamental teachings of Islam as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights\, which enshrines the right to freedom of religion\, belief\, and thought to all individuals.  \nClearly\, this issue is transnational as we’ve witnessed in the stabbing of Salman Rushdie. The consultations will take the form of written submissions and an interactive hearing which will be held in New York on 9 December 2022 from 10:00am – 1:00pm. \nAs part of the consultation process\, all NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC are invited to submit their contributions and views on four key questions in the Concept Note ahead of the hearing via these instructions. \nInstructions for submission of of Written Inputs: \n\nUse the name of your organization as the document’s name.\nThe written submission should address the four questions outlined in the Concept Note.\nYour submission to each question should not exceed 500 words.\nTo submit your written inputs\, Log in to your NGO profile and under the “Correspondence tab” click on “New Message.” Attach the document to the email\, and use “2022 Consultations with NGOs in consultative status-Written Submissions” as the email title/subject\, and “Event/Meeting” as the category.\nPlease note that we are not able to accept other formats such as PDF\,  jpeg\, etc.\nPress “send.” Please note that your submission is final; you will not be able to edit your statement submission or send multiple versions.\nKindly ensure that your written submission is finalized prior to sending the document.\n\nInstructions on registering for participation at the Interactive Hearing will be made available in the coming weeks. \nYour contribution is important! DESCRIPTION:IFA Global Cafe: In Conversation with Dr. Victor Kuperman and Ms. Nancy Siciliana \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of connecting\, communicating\, and storytelling within the dialogue of isolation. The “Niagara Stories” project – run through a partnership between McMaster University\, the Seniors’ Computer Lab Project\, and Cyber Seniors’ Connected Communities Niagara – has allowed the opportunity for open conversations amongst Niagara residents.
