DESCRIPTION:The case for a new convention on the human rights of older persons – the view from Geneva and its relevance to the work of the Open-ended Working Group on Ageing \n  \nOrganizer UNDESA and INPEA \nFormat of the Event In-Person \nLocation Conference Room 8 \n  \nThis side-event will examine recent developments relating to the human rights of older persons at the Human Rights Council and explore their relevance to the work of the Open-ended Working Group on Ageing (OEWGA). It will on focus on the 2022 report (A/HRC/49/70) of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights OHRCHR) on the current international framework relating to the human rights of older persons and in particular on the findings and recommendations of the multistakeholder meeting organised by OHCHR in August 2022 to consider that report. Panel participants will be drawn from member States\, civil society organisations\, national human rights institutions and experts.
