OHCHR’s multi-stakeholder meeting on the human rights of older persons

OHCHR’s multi-stakeholder meeting on the human rights of older persons will be held on 29 – 30 August 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m CET, in a hybrid format at the Palais des Nations (Room XVII). More information, including on the panellists, is available here.

Registration for the event is open until 23 August. Once registered via Indico, you will receive the Zoom link a few days in advance of the event.

The meeting will also be webcast live and archived at: webtv.un.org.

12th Session of the Open-ended Working Group on Ageing

Date and Venue: The Twelfth Session of the Working Group will be held in Conference Room 1 from 11 to 14 April 2022 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The opening will be held at the General Assembly Hall.

Participation of NGOs – The deadline for New NGOs applying for accreditation is now closed.

Participation of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) – The deadline is now closed.

Call for inputs – CLOSED

The Chair of the Open-ended Working Group for the purpose of strengthening the protection of the human rights of older persons, invites Members of the Working Group, “A” status National Human Rights Institutions, non-governmental organizations with ECOSOC Status and previously accredited organizations to the Working Group, as well as United Nations Funds, Programmes, Specialized Agencies and other UN Entities, to provide:

  1. Substantive inputs on the two focus areas of the Twelfth session, namely “Contribution of Older Persons to Sustainable Development” and “Economic Security”. Please refer to “guiding questions” on each of the focus areas. Inputs should be in English and of no more than 800 words per focus area. Please send inputs to ageing@un.org
  1. Substantive inputs, in the form of normative content for the development of a possible international standard on the protection of the rights of older people to the “Right to work and access to the labor market” and “Access to justice”. Please refer to “guiding questions” on each of the focus areas. Inputs should be in English and of no more than 800 words per focus area. Please send inputs to ageing@un.org
