NGO CSW/NY January Monthly Meeting
Education as a Pathway to achieving gender equality

When people have access to quality education they can break the cycle of poverty and address issues of gender inequality. Education reduces the chances of poverty being transmitted between generation. Inequities are reduced by advancing skills and connectivity in underdeveloped regions by providing basic necessities such as drinking water, food, sanitation and shelter. These disadvantages in education also translate into lack of access to skills and limited opportunities in the labor market for women.
At our January monthly meeting we showcase multilateral efforts to achieve SDG4 – good quality education: What are the successes and what are the failures? We will seek to answer some key questions:
1. How does the work of the UN system promote quality education to break the cycle of poverty?
2. How can CSOs engage and/or partner with organizations to ensure a protracted education in the midst of crisis?
