UN CSW 2024 side event

Theme: The role of religious and faith-based organizations in addressing poverty with a gender perspective

March 13th, 2024, 10:30am Online Event

Background

The sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) provides a significant platform for global dialogue on gender equality and empowerment. The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) recognizes the importance of addressing poverty and strengthening institutions with a gender perspective, aligning with its mission to strengthen local churches and promote unity within the body of Christ. In collaboration, with the Girls Brigade, UN Member States, and others, the WEA is organizing a side event to discuss the role of religious and faith-based organizations in advocating on these critical issues.

Purpose

The purpose of this side event is to facilitate a constructive and inclusive conversation on the opportunities of religious and faith-based organizations to advocate on gender equality, in addressing poverty, and strengthening institutions through a gender perspective. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the event seeks to foster understanding, collaboration, and tangible action to accelerate progress towards these shared goals.
