Access at UN Headquarters at New York

  • 11 March 2022–Update on access to the UN Headquarters Complex in New York: Beginning Monday, 14 March 2022, representatives of civil society organizations will be able to access the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ) in New York.See full email from the Civil Society units of UN DESA and UN DGC.
  • 18 January 2022–Update on access to the UN Headquarters Complex in New YorkNote the following: 1) At this time, due to the emergence and spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, and in keeping with the current guidance from local authorities, almost all meetings and events at UN Headquarters are being held virtually or have been postponed at least until the end of January 2022 when these arrangements will be reviewed; 2) While civil society representatives are welcome to collect their grounds passes from the UN Pass & ID Office in January, after they have been approved by the NGO Branch, entry to the UN Headquarters in New York complex remains restricted at this time due to the prevailing health conditions in New York. This means that grounds passes issued to civil society representatives will not provide access until the UN building is once again open to civil society. As soon as the situation improves and the UN re-opens fully, we will communicate the information accordingly.
  • 15 December 2021–Important followup  about NGO access at UN Headquarters in New York: Note the following: 1) To ensure a safe and healthy environment, completed COVID-19 vaccination will be required for all civil society representatives accessing the UN Headquarters complex in New York; 2) Requests for grounds passes will not be approved if the letter does not include confirmation of a full course of vaccination against COVID-19 for each designated representative.  3) To meet this requirement, existing requests that are currently pending in the system will need to be deactivated to enable organizations to submit requests starting in January, with the required confirmation, for the 2022 calendar year.
