She Talks Peace – a podcast and an initiative of the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy – offers an important inclusive and enabling environment for women and girls to communicate especially in relation to sustainable development and building cultures of peace.

Climate change and more recently COVID-19 heightened the inequalities of structural violence and systemic injustices. Women, who are disproportionately affected by climate-induced disasters and conflict and who now are at the frontlines social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, need to be able to position themselves effectively in discussions and actions that promote women’s empowerment and sustainable development.

This side event introduces ‘She who talks and acts for peace’ and all that entails. This means women and girls communicating in different ways such as finding their voices, having a seat at the table, creating their own niche, breaking glass ceilings or fixing leaky faucets.

Both peacebuilding and promoting sustainable development are highly-gendered phenomena. Climate change should not be addressed in isolation from the crisis of peace as the two are intertwined.

From the perspectives of peacemakers and climate communicators, participants will discuss their efforts to communicate building a better world for all and how discussions on climate and peacebuilding can potentially form transformative spaces for gender relations and women’s empowerment.

Achieving Gender Equality and Economic Empowerment through Nurse Migration–A CSW66 Side Event

The United Nations sixty-sixth session on the Commission on the Status of Women is scheduled to commence from 14 through 25 March 2022.  The NGO CSW Forum runs parallel to the official session and provides civil society the opportunity to engage in the processes and CSW sessions.

Women at the Helm of Sustainable Solutions to Climate Crisis–A CSW66 Side Event

The sixty-sixth session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66) has already started and will conclude on 25 March 2022.

For the eleventh consecutive year, Dianova International will host a parallel event in the NGO CSW66 Virtual Forum in which many NGOs from around the world will be discussing a wide range of topics on women’s rights.

On the topic “Women at the Helm of Sustainable Solutions to Climate Threats”, our parallel event will take place on Monday, March 21 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am EST (New York time), 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm CET (Madrid time). Sixty-sixth Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

The sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 14 to 25 March 2022. Due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, CSW66 will take place in a hybrid format. All side events and parallel events will be fully virtual.

Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are invited to contribute to the session.

Themes

  • Priority theme: Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes;
  • Review theme: Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work (agreed conclusions of the sixty-first session);

Bureau

The Bureau of the Commission plays a crucial role in facilitating the preparation for, and in ensuring the successful outcome of the annual sessions of the Commission. Bureau members serve for two years. In 2002, in order to improve its work and ensure continuity, the Commission decided to hold the first meeting of its subsequent session, immediately following the closure of the regular session, for the sole purpose of electing the new Chairperson and other members of the Bureau (ECOSOC decision 2002/234).

The Bureau for the 66th session (2022) of the Commission on the Status of Women comprises the following members:

The outcome of the Commission’s consideration of the priority theme during its 66th session will take the form of agreed conclusions, to be negotiated by all Member States.

The Commission will review, as appropriate, its methods of work, taking into consideration the outcome of the process of alignment of the agendas of the GA and ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, with a view to further enhancing the impact of the work of the Commission.The Commission will make a recommendation on how best to utilize the year 2025, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
