This virtual parallel event at the CSW69/Beijing+30 will address the economic status of older woman since adoption of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Discussion will include degree of achievement, persistent barriers, and strategic efforts toward development of social protections aimed at reducing poverty and actualizing the equality of older women as valued members of society now and in the future.
The context of panel discussion will be through the lens of older women and their social and economic gains as related to the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals of reducing poverty and gender equality. Speakers will discuss their role at the 1995 Beijing Conference and action items (Yesterday); examine the economic contributions of older women in their communities (Today); and explore global efforts toward ensuring adequate incomes for older women (Tomorrow).
